The Florida Marlins will host the New York Mets at 4:10 PM tomorrow.  The game will be aired on SNY.  It was those same Marlins that kept the Mets out of the Playoffs.  Once the fight broke out, the Marlins used the anger to stomp the Mets when it mattered most.  The Mets need to sweep the three-game series just like they did when they opened up the 2007 season against the Cardinals.  After the Mets play the Marlins, they head to Atlanta for a three-game series.  After that, they host a three game set with the Phillies at Shea Stadium.  Nine straight NL East games to kick off the season.  It will be interesting to see where the Mets are after that.

Mets roster moves - MLB.com reported that the Mets added Brady Clark and Raul Casanova to the 25-man roster.  Duaner Sanchez, Orlando Hernandez, and Ramon Castro, was placed on the DL.  Brian Stokes was added to the roster while Fernando Tatis, Nelson Figueroa, and Ricardo Rincon were sent down to the Minors.

Wednesday’s Mets News

The Mets still haven’t made that blockbuster trade that every Mets fan on Earth is waiting for.  It’s just been a dreadful offseason for Major League Baseball.  Omar, I’m waiting for Santana baby.  And time is running out.  Pitchers and Catchers is right around the corner, and I want my boys from Queens to win a World Series in 2008.  It’s been a long time.  Omar needs to stop being hesitant since it’s been since 1986.  The time is now.

Rincon lands Minor League contract - According to Marty Noble, the Metropolitans aquired the minor league contract of 37-year old reliever Ricardo Rincon.  Rincon has been out of the league for a few years.  He will try to prove that he’s ready, willing, and able to pitch in the big leagues again.  The Mets need all of the relievers they can get, especially good ones.  Hopefully Ricardo works out for the Mets.

Wright treks to dedicate Mets room

Wright weighs in on steroid discussion - Anthony DiComo put together an article about what David Wright thinks about steroids in baseball.  Here’s a quote from David Wright, “This stuff doesn’t go on anymore in baseball,” Wright said Wednesday. “Maybe it’s me being naive, but I don’t think that guys are trying to beat the system now in baseball. I think that’s behind us.”  Wright’s answer is so naive sounding that he even follows that up himself in the very next sentence.  This answer is as dumb as when Roger Clemens said that he would go to congress and tell them everything he knows about steroids, “which isn’t alot”.  Right Roger.  Major League Baseball just keeps making a mockery of itself, and it never seems to stop.  And it’s not only steroids.  It starts with the Commissioner and it trickles all the way down.  It keeps getting worse and worse instead of better.  I’m the naive one because I keep waiting for the league to turn around, and it doesn’t happen.

Around the Horn: Outfielders - Marty Noble examined the outfielders of the Metsies which include Moises Alou, Carlos Beltran, and Ryan Church.

Chavez agrees to two-year deal - Marty Noble reported that the Mets agreed to a two-year deal with Endy Chavez worth $3.85 million contract yesterday.  Chavez has been one of the best backup outfielders in the majors.  Endy has been a crowd favorite for two years already.  Not as much in 2007 as in 2006, but how many times in your life can you make “The Catch”?
