Monday’s Mets News
4 days until pitchers and catchers. I really am looking forward to 2008. It is much easier knowing that my NFL team went all the way. I don’t have to think back about what they did wrong during the season or in the Playoffs because they won the Super Bowl. At the end of the 2006 season, I had plenty of things to complain about because the Giants were like a Soap Opera. Tiki retired and Shockey got injured, and all of a sudden the Giants won the Super Bowl. 2007 was so much better than 2006. In just one year, they were able to turn it completely around.
That’s what I’m hoping my Mets will do. I’m hoping that nobody will get bored in 2008. I’m hoping that they remain focused the entire season and postseason. I’m hoping that Reyes, Delgado, and the Bullpen can get out of the slump. I’m hoping that Santana can situate himself in New York quickly. I’m hoping that the Mets can turn it all around in one year just like the Giants did. I would love to see the Metropolitans win the World Series.
At camp, all eyes will be on Santana - Marty Noble feels like everybody will scrutinize every move that Johan Santana makes in Spring Training because he is the big fish that the Mets acquired during the offseason.
The Star-Ledger:
Big Willie Style’s All In It - Matthew Artus expresses his concerns about Willie Randolph. Artus pointed out how Randolph coached the Mets in 2006 and in 2007. Matthew also explains why Willie must have a successful season in 2008 to keep his job.
Back In The Saddle - Jeremy Cothran is heading down to Port St. Lucie to cover Spring Training.
