Carlos Gomez is in Demand…
Apparantly, Carlos Gomez has become a hot commodity as two MLB teams are interested in him. The first one is the Nationals. The Nats are interested are also interested in the right-hander Mike Pelfrey. Gomez, 21, was great in the field, but he only hit .232 last season. I thought he had much better offensive production than that. I like this young kid a lot, I hope Omar doesn’t let him go unless we really get some pretty good pitching. The pitching isn’t coming out of Washington though. Pelfrey, 23, was 3-8 with a 5.57 ERA last season. So many Mets fans that I talk to really like this kid. I don’t know why, and I debate them everytime. It just seems like he doesn’t have the “IT” factor…or is it just me. He is still young and has time to develop, but it “IT” there? I mean the “IT” that’s going to bring a trophy to Shea Stadium or Citi Field in the next couple of years. (Nationals.mlb.com)
The second teams interested in Gomez is the Twins according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune. The article goes on to say that Gomez is a possible replacement for Tori Hunter as well as Tampa Bay’s Del- mon Young and B.J. Upton. The Twins do have plenty of young arms so Omar will probably look further into a deal with the Twins than he would with the Nats. It’s good to see that Carlos is in demand, but I don’t know if the Mets are ready to part ways with Gomez just yet.
