Glavine Files for Free Agency
Yesterday, the New York Post reported that Tom Glavine reported for free agency. There’s no surprise there. We all knew that the new Tom Terrific wanted to go back down to Atlanta. I guess he wants to hear the most annoying stadium chant in the world more often.
Even though Tom has been on the Mets a number of years now. It still seems like he plays for the Braves. I think that Atlanta pays like 75% of his salary each year because when Glavine faces his former team, he loses ever time. I only recall him beating the Braves like once in 2006 and once in 2007. It has to be more than that, but not by much. I don’t catch every Mets game, but I watch in excess of 120 a season. I do watch every Braves game though. So that’s my conspiracy theory regarding Tom Glavine and the Atlanta Braves. There’s definitely a secret arrangement going on. The Mets are on the take.
Along with Glavine filing for free agency, here’s the list of Mets players that have filed so far this week through Thursday: Luis Castillo, Paul Lo Duca, Marlon Anderson, Ramon Castro, Shawn Green, Aaron Sele, Mike DeFelice, and Sandy Alomar Jr. I already wrote a post about some of these guys, including that the Mets re-signed Damion Easley to a one-year deal.
